This is a field recording in late may, 2009 off the porch of my cabin located on lummi island, washington state, usa. The woods are filled with a cacophony of migrating and local bird sounds. This is a raw field recording it has not been mixed or overdubbed.

I wanted the sound of a stick hitting something solid.

I needed the sound of a stick hitting something, so i mixed together a whip sound, a belt strike sound and a the sound of someone hitting a piece of wood.

Minimalist beat captured in a natural setting, probably some siding on a building being replaced. Mixes metal rattling (like screws or coins) with hammering and a low background voice. Portions have been looped and mixed, could be cut and looped in various patterns.

Water rolling down a creek, over rocks and around a fallen tree, in stereo, with the water sounds moving from one ear to the other ear. We got in the van and drove down a rural road in arkansas, united states. On the side of that road, we found whittington creek. We continued and found where this creek enters a man-made underground tunnel in the city of hot springs. This sound is used in the beginning of a 7-minute video of our adventure:http://elingreso. A fairly decent recording -- in my opinion --- of wind blowing through oak tree branches and rattling dead leaves. Recording made on saturday april 6th, 2013 using my zoom h4n recorder. My microphone, rode nt2, was mounted inside my homemade parabolic reflector. Enjoy.

Pine cones dropping and landing on a bed of pine needles. This recording was made on a windy day, so there is some background "whooshing" wind; all in all, i think these pine cones softly landing on the needles can be put to good use. Recording made with my zoom h4n recorder, with a rode ntg-2 shotgun microphone. For this recording i literally wanted to get as close as i could, so i placed the shotgun microphone on the ground and carefully let the pine cones fall as close to the microphone as possible, but without hitting it. *not easy to do. I did edit out some of the direct hits!. Enjoy, and if you ever get the chance to spend a warm afternoon in the peace of a thick stand of pines, you should. Kvgarlic.

A marimba note being struck while thrown in to the air. Can't remember the mic that was used but it was a condensor mic. This was recorded in my room so unfortunately the signal to ambient noise ratio isn't great. The sound can be used for free (though it would be great to hear about what you do with it). This is a recording of myself banging a garden chair, an old table and a ladder together to create an earthquake element. It is completely raw, so no processing has been done, no eq, nothing. I recorded this in my living room with my trusty sennheiser mkh 416, straight into an mbox mini and into pro tools.

Walking on wood floor, medium pace, dress shoes. You can hear mild traffic noises outside. Recording with mxl 990 condenser, mic near the floor, used x-hum and z-noise plugins to clean it up.
